– A P O C A L Y P S T I C K: Let It Die, Part Two.
New favorite blog, people - check it out.
FYI:
I just made a variation of this for a quick lunch (finally got around to picking up beets at the Farmers Market last Saturday) and HOLY CRAP it is delicious. The whole thing took me maybe 15 minutes to put together, too.
What I changed:
- regular yellow onions instead of shallots
- chickpeas instead of potatos (tossed them in the pan with the onions and garlic to get all yummy and warm)

Me: So what're you doing Tuesday? I need to go up to Penn Station [to redeem a stupid Amtrak ticket] and I thought I'd stop in.
Bri [who works in a pub near MSG]: I don't know, it's Green Day so we'll probably be busy.
Me: What's green day?
Bri: Um, they're a pretty popular band...?
Me: Oh! I thought meant "green day," like, you wear a green shirt and get a free beer.
Bri: .....

Excuses, Excuses →
One day I typed out a dozen excuse notes and distributed them to my senior classes. The students read them silently, intently. “Mr. McCourt, who wrote these?” asked one boy.
“You did,” I said. “I omitted names to protect the guilty. They’re supposed to be written by parents, but you and I know the real authors. Yes, Mikey?”
“So what are we supposed to do?”
“This is the first class to study...
In Which We Endure Days In The Summer →
Yes I have met people and we haveconnected. But in each case, I have noted very early ona perceptible imbalance in my feelings and interest and theirs. And thanks to my summer/Summer, I know better than to stick around. In fact, I run as far away as I can, and as fast as possible. These days, I would no more get involved with someone who does not feel for me what I feel for them than I would lie...

Talking with a friend about Anthony Bourdain:
Her: I have such a creepy crush on him. He just seems so smart and rude, and apparently I love that.
Me: I KNOW. I bet he's super freaky in bed too.
Her: Listen, I know how much he loves oysters, so I'm gonna take that as a good sign...

This has, without a doubt, been the lowest week I have had in recent memory. Between family stuff, not getting a dream job I interviewed four times for (and was told that in the end it came down to me and one other “candidate”), and just general mid-20’s stress and angst, I feel like I’ve spent the past six months banging my head against a wall and it’s still not...

Seriously, how can this even continue as series at this point? I love this show but, come on - 3/5 of the original cast is now dead! (At first I thought Lois and the Hot Indian Doctor from the first episode were going to be brought on as Tosh...

Red-band 'Jennifer's Body' trailer →
Um, actually kind of excited by this (and NO NOT THAT WAY PERV). I feel like maybe I can tolerate Diablo Cody dialog if people are getting their heads ripped off, seeing as that’s what I visualized doing to Michael Cera and Ellen Page the entire time I was watching Juno.
